Bass of the Year Awards
Every year Atma-Sphere Music Systems awards the Bass of the Year Award to a special recording. The award
is not for the most bass, but for the best bass. We're listening for tasteful, not
'boom caar'bass. We tend to
use these recordings as bass references. We believe that the old idea that OTLs are wimpy amplifiers is
unfounded and misleading. So we select these recordings so we can demonstrate what we are talking about.
Some years there are many contenders (for example Paula Cole's TIGER LILY CD almost made the cut...)
and other years there are hardly any. We like things done right. 1992 was the first year the award was made.
